I've learned how critical cyber security is for many things to function properly. As everything that we do moves towards technology, the security has become more and more important. Unfortunately, a lot of the times it depends on the person on how secure they are [1].
There are several ways of protecting yourself from potential cyber attacks [2].
- Running an anti-virus scan every so often.
- Installing software updates
- Not sharing personal IDs via email or any other unsecure method
- Preventing adware/spyware. Usage of adblocker is a good way of making sure you won't install something sketchy.
- Protecting passwords, ideally with high grade encryption that only you can can decrypt.
- Backing up important files.

The integration of computers into the power grids have made them vulnerable to cyber attacks. The implications of power grids being hacked are huge as it also affects the economy. One of the biggest cyber attacks on a power grid was on western Ukrainian power grid in December 2015 which affected 225,000 households [3].
